Mice Invade First Grade

With the help of a wireless mouse, first graders practiced identifying a number based on the value of the tens place and ones place.  Students in Mrs. Flott's, Mrs. Ogle's and Mrs. Riggin's class played Lilypad Hide and Seek, a game from Learning.com. Learning.com is an online resource provided by the district that supports technology, math and science. The wireless mouse made the activity interactive and each student got the chance to participate in the lesson.  The students had a great time while learning about place values.

Character Word Clouds

Mrs. Montgomery’s fifth grade class has been studying literary elements. Two elements are featured each week. This week the class studied character and setting. One activity was to create a word cloud using descriptive words to show character. Each student put their name on a piece of paper. The papers were passed around the room and the students were to write a descriptive word about their each classmate. These words were then typed into wordle.com to create their word cloud. The students really enjoyed seeing the list of positive affirmations written by their classmates and learned more about descriptive words as well!
